A fine preserved model of the 4-6-2 Duchess Class Locomotive. This example is the “City of Edinburgh” running number 46241 in British Rail Green Livery! The locomotive was introduced by Wrenn between 1980-1984. There were two variations produced totaling less than 500.
This example is one of 400 produced with a lined tender. The alternative example was made with a mark two chassis between 1987-1990. This locomotive is becoming ever harder to find especially as more often than not they are all play worn! The locomotive is complete in every respect and includes original Wrenn box, original instruction manual and usual holding rings and tissue!
The Duchess locomotive used by London Midland & Scottish Railways was a class of express passenger steam locomotives designed by William Stanier. The Duchess class got its name as a result of being a non-streamlined,although to engine-men they were often known as Big Lizzies.
