A much sort after Class R1 Tank 0-6-0T locomotive (ex-H/Dublo 1968). This SE & CR version was made between 1989-92 Period Four production. The SE & CR Green locomotive model reference W2201 with running number 69 was limited to only 241 examples.
Such was the popularity of this fine loco that they are seldom seen for resale. This is one of the finest boxed examples I have seen for many years. Probably seldom used. The locomotive is in original condition, complete in every respect and includes an original of the period associated labelled end box, packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue!
For many years the South Eastern Railway (SER) had possessed very few locomotives designed for shunting. Several other railways favoured the 0-6-0T wheel arrangement for shunting. So in 1887 it was decided to introduce a class of 0-6-0T locomotives specifically for shunting and for hauling local goods trains. The R class locomotives were designed by James Stirling as a new class. 25 were built at Ashford Works between 1888 and 1898.
