A fantastic example Wrenn, model reference W2230 BO BO Diesel Electric Locomotive. This variation in BR GREEN running no. D8017, is the alternative to the Blue version along with the non motorised! This locomotive was made with a MK1 chassis and has always been a favourite amongst collectors and layouts across the country. This locomotive was introduced in 1977 with production finishing in 1989 Period Four not long before the factory closure at Basildon!
The exact numbers made are unknown BUT in all my years of collecting I have only see a handful in such great condition. This locomotive remains in factory fresh condition without use. Complete and includes original P4 box, packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue.
Class 20 diesel locomotives were built in 1957-1968 by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows or at the Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn works at Darlington. Class 20 locomotives have a maximum tractive effort of 42000 lbf (187 kN) and Class 20 diesels have a maximum speed of 75 mph. Class 20 locomotives only have one cab at one end and consequently they often work in pairs. Class 20 diesel locomotives were built for light to moderately heavy freight trains.
