This fine Wrenn model W2224 is of the Standard 8F Class locomotive in BR Black, runnning number 48073. This model locomotive is one of the few which spand all four periods of production Wrenn Model Railways undertook at Basildon Essex. This example was in production from 1967-1992.
Alternative examples and a LIMITED EDITION were made during the other periods. As all model railway enthusiast know, this is the “WORKHORSE” for freight operations on any layout. Hence why they are very seldom found NOT play worn and even rarer boxed.
This later P3 example locomotive with cream numbers instead of yellow is complete in every respect and includes original box, packaging in retail shelf condition. Comes complete with instruction manual and usual holding rings and tissue! One of only 523 made in period four.
The London Midland and Scottish Railway’s 8F class 2-8-0 heavy freight locomotive is a class of steam locomotive designed for hauling heavy freight. 852 were built between 1935 and 1946 (not all to LMS order), as a freight version of William Stanier’s successful Black Five. The class saw extensive service overseas during and after the Second World War.
