A brand new 00 gauge example especially developed by “Bachmann Model Railways” as part of their latest DCC ready series. This example is the Class 47 Diesel 47 778 Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards EWS.
The Class 47 Brush Sulzer BR Locomotives were designed for BR mainline passenger trains on Eastern, Midland, Southern and Western Regions of British Railways. Class 47 also work freight trains. Class 47 locomotives were built from 1962 to 1968 by Brush Traction at Loughborough or at BR Crewe Works. Class 47 locomotives have a maximum tractive effort of 267 kN/60000 lbf and maximum design speed of 95 mph.
A total of 512 Class 47s were built at between Crew Works, Brush’s Falcon Works and Loughborough, which made them the most numerous class of British mainline diesel locomotive.
