Offering a brand new Class 37/4 engine especially developed by “Bachmann Branch-line as part of their DCC series. This engine has been tested for avoidance of doubt and after sale issues. The locomotive includes its unopened accessory pack and paperwork.
The British Rail Class 37 is a diesel-electric locomotive. It is also known as the English Electric Type 3. The Class was ordered as part of the BR modernisation Plan.
The Class 37 became a familiar sight on many parts of the British Rail network. They were on Intercity services in East Anglia and Scotland. They also performed well on secondary and inter-regional services for many years. The Class 37 is known by railway enthusiasts as a Tractor. This nickname came from the similarity of the sound of the locomotive.
These 1,700hp Types 3 diesel-electric locomotives were built at English Electric’s Vulcan Foundry and by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns between 1960 and 1965.
