Offering a very collectable Wrenn locomotive which has withstood the test of time. This model is the 4-6-2 BR Duchess Class locomotive City of London, fitted with the later MK2 chassis and flanged wheels.
We are of the belief this engine is an special factory order supplied by Wrenn. The build and component parts denote a 1985 production model, identical to the Carlisle MK2 of the period.
We are of the opinion a very rare find indeed, as less than 120 models of the MK2 London were later produced between 1988-1989!
The locomotive is in original condition, complete in every respect and includes original stamped box of the period box together with, inner packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue!
The Duchess locomotive used by London Midland & Scottish Railways was a class of express passenger steam locomotives designed by William Stanier. The Duchess class got its name as a result of being a non-streamlined, although to engine-men they were often known as Big Lizzies.
