A very rare find this 4-6-2 Rebuilt Bulleid Pacific Locomotive named Dartmoor in BR Green livery number 34021.
This engine was found on display and has probably only ever been test run. The Dartmoor was introduced by Wrenn in 1990 and production continued until the final year of production at Basildon. Between the two versions produced, one with Orange-Red and Black lining, the other with Gold and Black, in total only 300 were ever built.
What makes this locomotive special is the condition which is hard to find due to the limited production run by Wrenn. The locomotive is complete in every respect and comes with its original Basildon Wrenn Box, packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue!
Due to problems with some of the more novel features of Bulleid’s design, all members of the class were rebuilt by British Railways during the late 1950s. The class members were named after the Merchant Navy shipping lines involved in the Battle of the Atlantic. Merchant Navy class operated until the end of Southern steam in July 1967.
NOTE: engine remains test run only, a lubrication and or basic service advisable if to be permanently run!
