A highly regarded limited edition 4-6-2 Rebuilt Bulleid Pacific Locomotive This superb displayed example is the “Lord Dowding” running number 34052 in British Rail Green. The locomotive is one of only 182 made by Wrenn during its production at Basildon between 1990-92 model reference W2415.
The locomotive is complete in every respect and includes original Wrenn Basildon box, packaging, display plinth with track and plaque. Also numbered certificate instruction manual and usual holding rings and tissue! Underneath stamped indistinctively. However component parts refer to a 1991/2 build date.
Due to problems with some of the more novel features of Bulleid’s design, all members of the class were rebuilt by British Railways during the late 1950s. The class members were named after the Merchant Navy shipping lines involved in the Battle of the Atlantic. Merchant Navy class operated until the end of Southern steam July 1967.
