A fine preserved model of the 4-6-2 Duchess Class Locomotive. This example is the “City of Liverpool” running number 6247 in LMS Maroon Livery! The locomotive was introduced by Wrenn between 1978-92 only.
There were four variations produced during this period which included; extended lining and larger wheels, all with model reference W2242. This example was produced with a lined tender. This locomotive is becoming ever harder to find especially as more often than not they are all play worn!
The locomotive is original in every respect and includes original Wrenn Basildon box, packaging, together with the instruction manual and usual holding rings and tissue!
The Duchess locomotive used by London Midland & Scottish Railways was a class of express passenger steam locomotives designed by William Stanier. The Duchess class got its name as a result of being a non-streamlined,although to engine-men they were often known as Big Lizzies.
