Offering a very collectable Wrenn locomotive which has withstood the test of time. This model is the 4-6-2 BR Duchess Class City of London. Production in Basildon commenced in 1969 through to 1980, with other examples being made from 1986 up to the 1990. Later models came with a MK2 chassis and or larger wheels.
This is an early period four (P4) example in their customary ex LMS Maroon livery with running number 46245 and smoke deflectors .The alternative examples with lined tenders are very difficult to find, as are the MK2 chassis examples where less than 120 exist!
The locomotive is in original condition, complete in every respect and includes original P3 box together with, inner packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue!
The Duchess locomotive used by London Midland & Scottish Railways was a class of express passenger steam locomotives designed by William Stanier. The Duchess class got its name as a result of being a non-streamlined, although to engine-men they were often known as Big Lizzies.
Note: To preserve its value as a collectors model the engine is being offered as found. Service required if to be permanently run.
