A superb Wrenn Class N2 Tank Locomotive running number 69550 this time in BR customary lined black Livery. This example is one of a few which was produced throughout Periods One to Four especially as this loco shared a chassis block with the 0-6-0T but with a rear bogie added. The tool for this was lost in 1990 as a result few N2 tanks were produced after 1989.
The locomotive has been fully serviced, is complete in every respect and comes complete with an authentic labelled end box of the period. Packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue! No layout should be without a fine example Wrenn, model reference W2216.
The Great Northern Railway (GNR) Class N2 is an 0-6-2T side tank steam locomotive designed by Nigel Gresley and introduced in 1920. Further batches were built by the London and North Eastern Railway from 1925.
They had super heaters and piston valves driven by Stephenson valve gear. Some locomotives were fitted with condensing apparatus for working on the Metropolitan Railway Widened Lines between King’s Cross and Moorgate.
