For sale a test run example of a much sought after “NCB” Class 08 Diesel Shunter in traditional RED livery. This locomotive, model W2234 running number 72 was introduced by Wrenn in 1978, its production ran until 1980.
Another example which stood the test of time being produced throughout the four periods at Basildon. This late period three (P3) example is a must for all collectors especially in such condition.
The locomotive is complete in every respect. Its condition is superb and includes an original labelled end box of the period and packaging. Also included is the instruction manual and usual holding rings and tissue!
The Class 08 0-6-0 diesel shunting locomotives were built at Crewe, Darlington, Derby, Doncaster and Horwich locomotive works between 1955 and 1962. Class 08 diesel shunter’s have a maximum tractive effort of 156 kN/35000 lbf and Class 08’s maximum speed is 15 mph.
