A seldom found very late P3 Wrenn Castle Class 4-6-0 Windsor Castle in BR Blue E/E model W2223.

The Castle Class is probably the most popular of all Wrenn locomotives. Production in Basildon Essex commenced in 1971. Other examples were being made throughout the remaining periods up to the factory’s’ closure in 1992.

This engine was produced between 1981-82. Distinctively a more desirable engine with a subtle sheen to the paintwork, crisp lining and clear decals. The locomotive is in original condition at worst periodically tested. Included is the original box, packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue.

GWR 4073 Class or Castle class locomotives are a group of 171 4-6-0 steam locomotives of the Great Western Railway. They were designed to pull express passenger trains by GWR Chief Mechanical Engineer, Charles Collett. Origins of this highly successful design date from the Star Class of 1907 which introduced  basic 4-cylinder 4-6-0 layout, long-travel valves and Belpaire firebox, which became synonymous with the GWR.

It Ran superbly straight from its box.

This was the first Wrenn loco I bought from Wrenn Connoisseur last year at “Ally Pally”. The price was extremely good & the product A1. It Ran superbly straight from its box & was in A1 condition.
