An alternative example Wrenn Model Railways Castle Class This model reference W2223 is the 4-6-0 Caste Class Locomotive named “Windsor Castle”
The Castle Class is probably the most popular of all Wrenn locomotives. Production in Basildon Essex commenced in 1971 (Period One) with other examples being made throughout the remaining periods leading up to the factory’s’ closure in 1992 (Period Four).
The BR Blue version running number 4082 was produced between 1975-82. This VERY LATE P3 example has been stored from new. At worst was tested when bought. The locomotive is in original condition, complete in every respect. Includes original box with residue sellotape marks which lining up! Packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue.
The GWR 4073 Class or Castle class locomotives are a group of 171 4-6-0 steam locomotives of the Great Western Railway. They were originally designed by the railway’s Chief Mechanical Engineer, Charles Collett, for working the company’s express passenger trains. The origins of this highly successful design date back to the Star Class of 1907 which introduced the basic 4-cylinder 4-6-0 layout with long-travel valves and Belpaire firebox that was to become synonymous with the GWR.
NOTE: TO PRESERVE ITS VALUE AS A DISPLAY MODEL IN OUR OPINION PARAMOUNT, THE LOCOMOTIVE REMAINS UN-SERVICED! THEREFORE SHOULD THE PURCHASER WISH WE WILL SERVICE F.O.C PRIOR TO DISPATCH!
