A fine example Wrenn, model reference W2210 “Mallard” A4 Class Pacific Locomotive. This variation in LNER Garter Blue, is the less produced example by Wrenn with running number 4468. This locomotive was made with a MK1 chassis and has always been a favourite amongst collectors and layouts across the country. This locomotive was introduced in what is commonly referred to as early P4 (1980+), with production finishing in 1985 Period four of which this is one. The exact numbers made are 2608. Surprisingly only 172 were made in Period Four! This later example locomotive has been fully serviced, is complete in every respect and includes original Wrenn Basildon P4 Box packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue. The underneath is date stamped in red Packer 6. No.3. The LNER’s Express Pacific designs were probably the most famous of the LNER locomotives. Of these Pacific’s, the A4 is probably the most famous of all: Its distinctive streamlined shape has come to be a symbol of 1930s luxury and speed. Even today, it is an A4 which holds the world speed record for any steam locomotive in the world.
