A brand new 00 gauge example especially developed by “Bachmann Branchline Model Railways” as part of their “RAIL EXPRESS Exclusive series. This Class 24 Diesel locomotive running number 97 201 RTC (Railway Technical Centre – RTC) is being offered in BR Red/Blue intercity livery model reference 32-425Z.
The locomotive is complete in every respect and comes with all usual refinements to LIMITED EDITION certificate (NUMBER 505 – 750), service sheet and complete sealed accessory packs X2.
The British Rail Class 24 diesel locomotives, also known as the Sulzer Type 2, were built from 1958 to 1961. One hundred and fifty-one of these locomotives were built at Derby Crew and Darlington, the first twenty of them as part of the British Rail 1955 Modernisation Plan. This class was used as the basis for the development of the Class 24 locomotives. The final survivor, no. 24081, was withdrawn from Crewe depot in 1980.
