A brand new 00 gauge example especially developed by “Bachmann Model Railways” as part of their latest DCC ready series. This engine is the Heljan Railways Class 128 DPU W55993 Green Livery with Speed Whiskers.
The British Rail Class 128 was a class of diesel multiple unit, built for British Rail. Introduced in 1959, ten of the class were built by Gloucester .Originally only eight sets were ordered by the British Transport Commission. This was changed to ten by the time British United Traction ordered the power units from Leyland Motors Ltd in November 1958 (an order worth £86,000).
The powerful engines were to allow the vehicles to pull a tail load, with a maximum weight of 64 tons. The vehicles could be found working their own parcels trains, with or without a tail load, or attached to a service train to add parcel capacity.
