The LNER Class 94 (widely known as the Austerity 0-6-0t) is a class of rugged, compact saddle-tank steam locomotives designed during World War II. Originally built for the military to handle heavy shunting and freight duties, they later became a staple of British industrial and coal-mining railways.

Designed by Robert A. Riddles in 1942. The engine after the war were sold to private users including the National Coal Board (NCB) because of their reliability, they continued running in collieries and factories well into the 70’s.
