A brand new 00 gauge example especially developed by Bachmann Branch-line as part of their latest DCC 21 pin series. This example is the weathered BR Blue 46045 Class 46 ref: 32-704.
The British Rail Class 46 is a 1Co – Co1 diesel electric locomotive built between 1961 and 1963 at Derby Works. Part of the “Peak” family (along with Class 44/45), it used a 2,500 hp Sulzer 12LDA28B engine and featured Brush electrical equipment. These Type 4 locomotives were mainly used for passenger services.
A total of fifty-six locomotives were built. The first was withdrawn in 1977 and all were withdrawn by the end of 1984. Three of the class have been preserved including Ixion 46035.
