Offering an new ex-shop stock 00 gauge Class 72XX example in G..W.R Green livery running no. 7202 especially developed by “Hornby Model Railways” as part of their LATER DCC series. This locomotive along with many others being offered is in pristine condition! Comes complete with original box, packaging, photo card sleeve and instructions.
The Class 72XX was designed by Charles Collett Chief Mechanical Engineer of the GWR. A total of 54 were built between August 1934 & December 1939. The Tank locomotive was the first of its kind to be built in England with a 2-8-2 configuration. Despite their weight the Class worked most parts of the GWR network and Home Counties carrying iron ore and stone.
The locomotive on offer is one of only three in preservation and is under restoration at Dicot Railway Center. The locomotive entered traffic 30th September 1934 & withdrawn from shed 88B Cardiff East Dock 30th June 1964.
