Offering a very collectable Wrenn locomotive which has withstood the test of time. This model reference W2286 is the 4-6-2 BR Duchess Class Locomotive named “City of Leicester”. Like the Castle Class a very popular Wrenn locomotive which was produced throughout the four periods at Basildon.

This is a Period Four example and was produced between 1989-1992 of which only 182 models were known to have been made. The locomotive is complete in every respect and includes the original box, inner packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue! .

The Duchess locomotive used by London Midland & Scottish Railways was a class of express passenger steam locomotives designed by William Stanier. The Duchess class got its name as a result of being a non-streamlined, although to engine-men they were often known as Big Lizzies.

Note: to retain its value as a display model, we believe paramount, the engine remains test run working order.
