Offering for sale a rare Wrenn “BR” 4 Wheeled Lowmac Machine Wagon BR B904631 in brown with cement body load and bright Axle Hangers model reference number W5039. This model was introduced by Wrenn in 1989 and production continued until the factory’s closure in 1992. During this period 98 were reported to have been made.
The Lowmac is finished in brown with white lettering. The cement body caramel and black lettering. The item is complete with original box, inner yellow sleeve and packaging. Wrenn also produced alternative models too during the same period primary difference colourway, running numbers and dark axle hangers.
Lowmac’ is the telegramaphic term within the Great Western Railway’s coding of railway wagons for a well wagon with a recessed floor. In full the code is ‘LowMachinery’; meaning a wagon with a low floor used for carrying machinery. The term was also employed by British Railways but as an actual wagon name.
