Offering the 2nd of two superb “Mallard” Class A4 Pacific Locomotives. model reference W2404. This variation in LNER Garter Blue, was made by Wrenn as a LIMITED EDITION model only which included ETCHED NAME PLATES and running number 4468. Only this one comes with an unusual 5 Pole Motor!
This locomotive was made with a MK2 chassis and has always been a favourite amongst collectors and layouts across the country. This locomotive was introduced late Period FOUR. The exact numbers made are reported to be 252. This example is in PERFECT condition and has come direct from a private displayed collection. All of which is reflected in the asking price!
The locomotive remains TEST RUN and is complete in every respect. It includes its original outer SPECIAL EDITION LID and inner box, packaging inclusive plinth and track, manual, usual holding rings and tissue. Note numbered certificate NO.109.
The LNER’s Express Pacific designs were probably the most famous of the LNER locomotives. Of these Pacific’s, the A4 is probably the most famous of all: Its distinctive streamlined shape has come to be a symbol of 1930s luxury and speed. Even today, it is an A4 which holds the world speed record for any steam locomotive in the world.
