A fine LATE PERIOD FOUR collectors example of a Wrenn W2209A “Great Snipe” A4 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotive in LNER Green, running number 4495. This version of the Great Snipe was made with a MK1 chassis. This model was introduced by Wrenn, Basildon in 1980 and production continued until 1992. During this period, only 420 were produced. An alternative model with a MK2 chassis was produced between 1987-88. The number produced was 60!
The locomotive is complete in every respect & includes original box and lid, packaging, manual, usual holding rings and tissue! The underneath is clearly stamped in red packer no.6. We have classified this locomotive as new due to light use.
The LNER’s Express Pacific designs were probably the most famous of the LNER locomotives. Of these Pacific’s, the A4 is probably the most famous of all: Its distinctive streamlined shape has come to be a symbol of 1930s luxury and speed. Even today, it is an A4 which holds the world speed record for any steam locomotive in the world.
