A very hard to find 2-6-4T 4MT Standard Tank Class Locomotive. This example is the “Southern Green UNLINED VERSION” running number 1927. The 4MT Standard Tank was based on the EX-H/Dublo model released in 1967. This variation of the standard tank loco was produced by Wrenn in the company’s final year in Basildon (1992) before selling the factory to Dapol, model reference W2245.
This version is highly prized amongst collectors especially as limited numbers were produced (reported to be less than 30). Probably why I have only seen three available for sale in the past 5 years. To find one in such fine condition is a bonus! The locomotive is complete in every respect and includes packaging, manual and usual holding rings and tissue! The P4 box is stamped in black Packer no.2 390992 by the manufacturer dating this item to September 1992.
The 4MT standard Class 4 tank is a British Railways class of steam locomotive, one of the BR standard classes built during the 1950’s. They were used primarily on commuter and outer suburban services. The Standard 4 tanks were originally allocated to all regions of British Railways, except the Western. They became particularly associated with the London, Tilbury-Southend Line (LT&S) working commuter services out of London until the route was electrified 1962.
