Offering for sale a brand new and boxed example of a Bachmann Branch-Line Model Railways BR MK1 FULL Brake (NEA) Royal Mail running number 92131 model reference number 39-184.
The general composite coach was a standard coach design going back to the early days of railways, enabling a railway company to provide multi-class passenger accommodation & haulage in a single vehicle. This full brake coach was designed to carry post and parcels across the country for Royal Mail.
Following nationalisation in 1948, BR had continued to build carriages to the designs of the “Big Four” companies (the Great Western, Southern, London Midland and Scottish and London and North Eastern railways), and the Mark 1 was intended to be the standard carriage design for use across all lines, incorporating the best features of each of the former companies’ designs. It was also designed to be much stronger than previous designs, to provide better protection for passengers and goods in the event of an accident.
