Offering a new L.N.E.R 4-6-2 Thompson Class A2/3 developed by “Hornby Model Railways” as part of their latest DCC READY Series. This engine running number 500 comes complete with all paperwork accessories and packaging.

The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Class A2/3 was a class of steam locomotives! They were newly constructed locomotives fulfilling the requirement identified for a standard express passenger locomotive of the 4-6-2 arrangement with 6ft 2″ (1.880m) driving wheels.

The first engine to enter works was the 2005 “Thane of Fife” which would eventually become the 505 when rebuilt as a class A2/2. The A2/3 Class were designed by Edward Thompson as a standard passenger locomotive after the sudden and unexpected death of Sir Nigel Gresley in April 1941.

The Pacific engines were deemed as the most beautiful of the larger engines. Indeed all of the locomotives were named after winners of the flat races in immediate post war period. With the exception of the prototype 60520.
