Hornby DCC Ready 4-6-4 Rebuilt Class W1 BR Green E/E 60700 model R3844

Offering AN EX SHOP STOCK 00 gauge locomotive especially developed by Hornby Model Railways as part of their latest DCC series. This rebuilt Class W1 is being offered in a traditional BR green livery reference  R3844.

This engine is complete in every respect which includes factory packaging, instructions, service sheet, accessories pack and outer sleeve picture card.

The original W1 10000 which left Doncaster Works in 1935 was initially built with a water tube boiler, which proved unreliable and led to frequent breakdowns. 

The rebuilt LNER W1, originally an experimental water tube boiler locomotive, was transformed into a three cylinder fire tube boiler locomotive with A4 styling. It retained the 4-6-4 wheel arrangement and shared many components with the A4 class. The most notable difference was the extended rear frames and enlarged cab to accommodate the extra carrying wheels.
